This is where community turns into action.
These projects are designed to make it easier for people to participate, connect, and be part of something bigger.
The Canby Public Library is doing strong work for our community, but it is being asked to do more with less.
Right now, the library meets about 87.5 percent of statewide service standards. That means we are close, but not fully there. Meeting these basic standards should be supported through City investment, not left to volunteers or fundraising efforts.
We are inviting the community to share what the library means to them in a simple and creative way.
You may see postcards and coloring pages at local businesses around Canby. These are part of a community-led project designed to make it easy for people of all ages to reflect on their connection to the library and share their voice.
You can:
Write a message on a postcard
Color a page and add your thoughts
Drop your response in one of the collection boxes around town
Take materials to share with others
All collected responses will be shared with local decision-makers as part of the budget conversation.
Decisions made during this budget cycle may impact:
Access to eBooks, audiobooks, and digital materials
Library hours, including the ability to reopen Sundays
Support for Spanish-speaking community members
Outreach and programs that connect the library to the community
Staffing needed to keep services consistent and accessible
Each year, the City of Canby’s Budget Committee meets to discuss funding for city services, including the library.
These meetings are open to the public, and community input matters.
In many cases, the only way decision-makers know something is important is by hearing directly from the people they serve.
May 14 6pm
May 21 6pm
May 28 6pm
You can attend, listen, or provide public comment.
There are simple ways to make your voice heard:
Write a message on a postcard and drop it in one of the community boxes
Send an email or letter to City Council
Attend a budget meeting and share your perspective
Talk with others and help spread the word
You do not have to do everything. Even one small action makes a difference.
You do not have to write something perfect. Even a short message helps decision-makers understand what matters to the community.

The library is more than books.
It is access to information, education, technology, and connection.
It is one of the few spaces in our community where everyone is welcome.
When community members speak up, it helps ensure those services are protected and strengthened.
Small actions add up.
Your voice matters.
Community-led project in partnership with local artists and businesses. Not affiliated with or endorsed by the library.
